Training Services

training introduction

Our curriculum reflects our capabilities in business process innovation and improvement, requirements engineering & solution analysis, and architecture and model-driven systems development.

We have developed a particular training approach for distilling intricate technology to its practical essence. The participants become confident and enthusiastic about applying what they've learned in the classroom to their work.

Practitioner Instructors: The Object Knowledge Difference

Object Knowledge instructors are accomplished practitioners in the field with an average of fifteen years of experience to draw on and share in the classroom. This is what gives them the capability to respond dynamically to the attendees There is no script. Instead, guided by first-hand experience and best practices, our instructors lead the students through exercises, tips and techniques so that the students develop the needed clarity and confidence.

Being an expert in a field is not enough. There are many would-be instructors who have a firm grasp of content. What is also required is an instructor who knows how people learn, and how to build confidence and excitement. For that purpose, all of our instructors go through a rigorous internal Train-the-Trainer program before they go near the classroom.

Our Core Training Capabilities

Human Performance Needs Assessment / Skills and Gap Analysis

We begin with an assessment of who needs to know what and when. To undertake a useful Gap Analysis, the goals driving the effort need to be outlined with great clarity. We look into each job family and how people will be expected to perform in a way which is different than how it happens in the present. This may include reviewing the existing curriculum, current practices and skills evaluation.

Custom Curriculum Development & Delivery

We often customize our course materials to meet our customerʼs specific goals. Our courses are modular, which allows us to quickly build course topics from the ground up based on what the students need to learn, and their background. We also specialize in developing completely new courses specifically for your organization.

A custom developed curriculum is well-aligned to the organization and its driving needs. Every topic covered in the curriculum is mapped to a particular job function, so that the participants can become capable of performing in a confident and knowledgeable way.

Train-the-Trainer Programs

Our Train-the-Trainer Program is designed to meet the specific challenges of technical training. There are also certain skills and qualities that are part of the successful trainerʼs toolbox, regardless of the specific course content. At Object Knowledge, we have decades of combined experience and we are using this deep well of knowledge to share the specific and predictable issues which arise relating directly to course delivery.

Whether the potential trainers are experienced teachers or subject matter experts new to training, they will benefit from the hands-on, participant centered learning experience with a clear focus on engaging all the participants in a way which is relevant to different backgrounds and learning styles.

Mentoring / Coaching Programs

Classroom instruction is usually the first-step of the learning process. However, it is rarely possible to cover everything which you need to know in the classroom. Moreover, the concepts that are introduced in the classroom don't become active knowledge until they are applied on the job. The mentors monitor quality, provide advice and encourage sound business and engineering practices. Our mentors ensure the success of your current project and imprint the practical knowledge you will need for your next project.

Center of Excellence Development

We work with organizations to develop a well-functioning Center of Excellence which combines best-of-breed learning with internal mentoring / coaching. The key to an effective Center of Excellence (COE) is to build a structure which is responsive, interactive and alive. If the COE is to be more than a container for a group of classes or a particular knowledge area, it must also be perfectly aligned with the mission and culture of the organization. In this way, the COE sustains an evolving Body of Knowledge which is invaluable.

Human Performance Measurements:  Evaluating Program Effectiveness and Learning Outcomes

Using the classic methods of evaluation, including Bloomʼs Taxonomy and Kirpatrickʼs Performance Metrics, combined with practical experience in seeing what works in the workplace, we can provide an honest assessment of the training post-delivery. In order for this evaluation to be most effective, it would be helpful to have completed a Skills / Needs Assessment and Gap Analysis prior to the training start.
